This beautiful Howarth XL VT Oboe was purchased new in 2019. It has been primarily been used to test reeds for my reed making business, with comparatively little play vs. use as a primary instrument for a professional. It is in excellent condition with no history of cracks and meticulous maintenance by a master oboe repair technician. It possesses a rich dark tone and an even scale with moderate resistance. The XL Model has been carefully designed for the exacting demands of professional performers, taking into consideration the desired sound and response from the instrument. The XL has a large bore, and the wall thickness has been developed to give a big sound with classical projection. This XL VT model has a partial sleeve in top joint to reduce cracking.
Howarth professional oboes are supplied in a bespoke solid wood case lined with green velvet. The case is protected by a Howarth professional oboe case cover.
