This student education video includes a demonstration of oboe cane processing.  Learn how a professional oboe reed maker begins the process of creating the kind of oboe reed that you would be happy to play. Professional reed makers start with tube cane and process it in steps on the way to mounting it on a staple to be scraped and finished.  These steps include splitting the tube cane, cutting the segments to length, pre-gouging, gouging and shaping.  Each step includes editing for conformation and sorting for size and strength.  Enjoy the video.
