Origin Intermediate Oboe Reeds (formerly Magic Reed) are handmade from scratch and are a personal favorite. Made with my coveted 2017 Marion or 2019 Alliaud Oboe Cane in medium to medium hard strength and 10.5-11 diameter. These higher density canes increase the possibilities for a more nuanced scrape. These reeds are more robust than my other intermediate reed options. However, my lighter scrape plus extra sorts for moderate aperture sizes throughout the process help me create beautiful, highly playable reeds that works great for most developing intermediates. Best for students with at least 2-3 years experience who practice on a regular basis. Players with developing production systems will be capable of sounding their best on this reed. Typically these players also have a private instructor.
