We specialize in the high end, used oboe market. We purchase used oboes of merit, and service them to ensure they are in tip-top condition. While we only carry a couple of oboes at a time, they are all excellent investments, and offered at prices that are usually below market within the cottage oboe industry.
Exceptional rosewood Laubin oboe for sale- s/n 2335 (made in 2002). They are truly handmade and known for their sweet dark timbre. The availability of a rosewood of this age is extremely rare. Every part of the key mechanism is essentially custom-fit to the body of the instrument. The wood is aged for at least ten years, exposed to the outside air, so that it will be ready to endure both outdoor summer concerts and drafty orchestra pits. The keys are heavily silver-plated and hand-burnished for beauty and durability. A synthetic liner in the upper joint helps to prevent cracking and extend the life of the oboe. The bore, undercutting, and tone-hole placement have been perfected over eight decades. We worry about all the little details so that you don’t have to; instead, you can focus on making music.
This oboe was virtually not played prior to my purchase, but has been broken in with 25-40 hours of play to prepare it for sale. Perfect pads, no cracks (heavy grains in places), keywork in pristine condition.
Eye candy, light weight and beautiful, sweet tone.
He was stunned by its condition and saddened by its lack of use. His servicing was just one half turn of the g# key.
These oboes have a 10 year waiting list, and it is rare to find such a recent model in such great shape. I am asking $12,500 which is lower than their recommendation. Discount for final sale, as described.
